Leather for car interiors
Gidal is specialised in third-party leather finishing for different applications, like footwear, upholstery and leather goods. Among these, there is also automotive industry with its specific requirements for comfort, luxury and solidity.
Car leather interiors, above all steering wheels and dashboards, give an immediate sensation of luxury and a pleasant sense of solidity, improving the look of the car. For these reasons Bycast leather is highly requested for this type of application.
Bycast finishing
Gidal realises a particular finishing called Bycast. At first a compound of polyurethane and water-based pigments is prepared; then it is applied on special casting release papers through a coating system and finally the thin PU film is bound to the selected substrate. This process takes place continuously through the use of release papers, which transfer the design and the shine on the chosen material.
The leather that we process can be classified as Real Leather, since the PU film applied is 0,10 mm thick. As per Italian and European directives which regulate Real Leather definition, it should be thinner than 0,15mm. The final product is perfectly suitable for quality car leather interiors.
Advantages of Bycast leather
Many are the advantages of our Bycast leather finishing. We already mentioned that the leather that we process can be classified as Real Leather. Moreover it has no unpleasant chemical smell which is typical of solvent-based treatments.
Our finishing is water-based, which means no bad smell on the final products and reduced air pollutant emissions in the atmosphere. Thanks to the eco-friendly treatment and the technical know-how, Gidal is a valid partner for the automotive industry.
