Leather finishing for furniture upholstery
Gidal realises third-party leather finishing for different applications, such as leather goods, automotive, footwear and furniture upholstery, which is a particularly competitive market. The decision to furnish with leather it’s a guaranteed success, thanks to its beauty and resistance.
The main characteristics of furniture leather are large size, workability and non-deformability. Our water-based PU finishing enhances these qualities and delivers a final product ideal for home and office decor.
Bycast finishing
We realise a particular finishing called Bycast, which consists in applying a water-based acrylic-polyurethane compound on special casting release papers through a coating system composed by 2 knives and 2 cylinders.
The thin PU film is then bound to the selected substrate. This process takes place continuously through the use of release papers, which transfer the design and the shine on the chosen material. Gidal works mainly with cow splits and half hides, but also with synthetic or natural materials, such as appleskin, in order to satisfy any customer’s enquiry.
Bycast leather for upholstery
Leather coated with our Bycast finishing is particularly suitable for the furniture market. The PU film applied on the substrate is 0,10 mm thick, therefore it complies with Italian and EU law which regulate the definition of Real Leather. According to these directives, thickness of the finishing must not be more than 0,15 mm.
Colours, designs, touch: the sensation of a natural leather. Our acrylic-polyurethane compounds are water-based. We don’t use solvents, therefore the leather we produce doesn’t smell unpleasantly and we don’t contribute to air pollution. Gidal’s Bycast finishing is excellent for the upholstery industry.
